Improvements to the Montreal water distribution system

Aqua-Pipe^® and Sanexen welcome the investment by the Governments of Canada and Quebec for improvements to the Montreal water distribution system

The Aqua-Pipe^® and Sanexen team welcomed the recent announcement from the Governments of Canada and Quebec to invest $50.8 million and $33.5 million, respectively, for improvements to the water distribution system in the Montreal area.

The joint announcement was made on April 18, by the Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, and Martin Coiteux, Quebec Minister of Municipal Affairs, and Minister responsible for the Montréal Region. The Mayor of Montreal, Denis Coderre, was also in attendance during the announcement.

Over the past fifteen years, Montreal has been among the North American cities the most actively devoted to innovation with respect to the rehabilitation of drinking water mains. Aqua‑Pipe^®, Sanexen’s structural liner water main rehabilitation technology, was developed in Montreal with the cooperation of municipal authorities.

Today, 130 kilometres of water main have been rehabilitated in Montreal using the Aqua‑Pipe^® liner, and a total of 1,200 kilometres in 150 cities across North America (California, Boston, Toronto, and even Alaska) have been rehabilitated over the past 10 years.

The advantages related to reduced cost and rehabilitation work duration, the durability of the structural liner, as well as the considerably fewer inconveniences to residents and neighbouring businesses during the work, are also contributing factors why more and more municipalities are opting for Aqua-Pipe^® to extend the life of their underground infrastructures.
