Sanexen is seeking a Water Treatment Technician/Operator to join its Rivière-des-Prairies operations center and work on job sites throughout the Greater Montreal area.

Job Description

Sanexen is seeking a Water Treatment Technician/Operator to join its team. Reporting to the Operations team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of water treatment systems. They will ensure the proper functioning of equipment by providing on-site support at client locations while ensuring process compliance, adherence to operational and environmental requirements, and the delivery of high-quality services.

The incumbent will also participate in the installation, commissioning, fabrication, and continuous improvement of treatment systems. Through technical expertise and a proactive approach, this role contributes to the reliability of installations, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

  • Operate industrial and wastewater treatment systems on a daily basis.
  • Perform equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and instrumentation failures and perform required repairs.
  • Carry out plumbing, mechanical, electromechanical, instrumentation, and calibration work.
  • Participate in the installation, modification, fabrication, and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Collect water samples and perform required analyses and monitoring activities.
  • Verify equipment performance and recommend improvements.
  • Complete maintenance reports, operating logs, and tracking documents.
  • Read and interpret plans, P&ID diagrams, manuals, and procedures.
  • Supervise subcontractors when required.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, fabrication, and project teams.
  • Travel to client sites as required.
  • Follow best practices related to health, safety, and the environment (HSE) and actively contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.

Sought Profile

  • DEP, AEC, or DEC in water treatment, electromechanics, industrial mechanics, building mechanics, instrumentation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Hold an ASP Construction safety certification.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Be available for travel and occasional stays outside the region.
  • Comfortable working in an industrial environment.
  • Demonstrate autonomy, resourcefulness, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Have a team-oriented approach and a willingness to share knowledge.

  • Demonstrate attention to detail and a constant commitment to quality, health, and safety.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of mechanics, plumbing, and hydraulics.
  • Ability to diagnose issues and perform troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of water treatment equipment.
  • Ability to read plans and P&ID diagrams.
  • Basic knowledge of automation and instrumentation (an asset).
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and mobile tools.

Assets

  • Knowledge of automation and remote control systems.
  • Knowledge of analytical instruments.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems.
