Sanexen is seeking a Surveying Technician for its Rayrock project in the Northwest Territories.

Job Description

As part of its northern operations, Sanexen is seeking a Surveying Technician to work at the Rayrock site in the Northwest Territories, on a 4-week field rotation. Reporting to the project team, the successful candidate will handle all surveying-related tasks to support the safe, efficient, and rigorous execution of large-scale projects.

This is an opportunity for a committed individual to demonstrate field leadership, reliability, and diligence while growing within a dynamic team working on major environmental projects.

  • Field Surveying: Perform and interpret surveying work required for plan implementation and the execution of environmental projects in remote areas.
  • Project Support: Support field activities related to contaminated site remediation, temporary and permanent structures, excavation, and water treatment.
  • Data Processing: Perform field calculations and data processing (volumes, quantities, progress) using specialized software (Civil 3D, Geomensura, or equivalent).
  • Compliance: Ensure accurate data collection that complies with internal standards and contractual requirements.
  • Deliverables: Produce field deliverables and graphical representations of the work performed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with site and project teams to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the safe use, maintenance, and reliability of surveying equipment, including marine and aerial drones (LIDAR, multibeam bathymetry).

Sought Profile

  • Relevant experience (3 years) in field surveying, ideally within environmental, industrial, or remote location projects.
  • Good knowledge of traditional surveying methods and a strong interest in learning new technologies (LIDAR, OTTER, etc.).
  • Experience or strong interest in data processing and the use of specialized software (Civil 3D or equivalent).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Availability to work outdoors in northern conditions and on extended rotations.
  • Rigor, autonomy, and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent team spirit and the ability to collaborate with various field stakeholders.
  • Excellent command of French.
  • Availability to travel across Canada based on project and operational needs.

Assets

  • Vocational or college training in surveying, geomatics, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of French and English (oral and written).
