Sanexen is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) for its Brossard office.

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Director, FP&A and Treasury, the Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role in the monthly financial reporting cycle, financial modeling, and Sanexen’s cash flow forecasting activities. As a key member of the Finance team, the incumbent provides reliable, relevant, and timely financial information to support the decision-making of the management team. The incumbent also contributes to the continuous improvement and modernization of financial reporting, planning, and forecasting processes.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial performance reports, including variance analysis against budget, forecasts, and the prior year.
  • Play a key role in the monthly closing process and coordinate information from Operations and Accounting to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Maintain, improve, and optimize reporting models in Excel, Office Connect, and Workday Adaptive Insights.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to help management better understand financial and operational performance.

Financial modelling

  • Develop, maintain, and improve complex financial models supporting management reporting, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) analyses, capital expenditure (Capex) evaluations, and the Value Creation Plan (VCP).
  • Document model logic, assumptions, and data sources, and ensure model integrity through structured validation controls.
  • Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses to support business cases and investment decisions.
  • Act as a financial modeling resource within the Finance team.

Financial Forecasting

  • Prepare and analyze cash flow and cash position forecasts, as well as related reports for management.
  • Monitor actual cash performance against forecasts, analyze key variances, and make recommendations.
  • Play a key role in the annual budgeting process and periodic forecast review exercises.
  • Act as a backup to the Senior Treasury Analyst for treasury management activities, ensuring continuity of daily operations during absences.

Presentations

  • Prepare presentations on financial results, forecasts, and analyses for the management team and Board of Directors.
  • Present and explain results, analyses, and recommendations to the management team.
  • Transform complex financial data into clear and relevant information to support decision-making.

Other

  • Perform ad hoc financial analyses to support the Senior Director, FP&A and Treasury, as well as the Finance team as a whole.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to automate, simplify, and improve recurring reporting and forecasting processes.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of FP&A tools, processes, and practices.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure the quality and consistency of financial information.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and accuracy of all financial information handled.

Desired Profile

  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or a similar field.
  • 3–6 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, FP&A, financial modelling or a similar function.
  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including financial model design and financial analysis.
  • Strong financial modelling skills and the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong analytical rigor, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and sound professional judgment when handling confidential information.
  • Proactive, autonomous and comfortable taking initiative to identify and implement improvements.
  • Open-minded, flexible and eager to learn.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (approximately 10%).

Assets

  • CPA or FPAC designation, or any other relevant certification, or currently pursuing such a designation.
  • Experience in a corporate or project-driven environment, particularly working with private equity stakeholders.
  • Experience with Workday Adaptive Insights, Office Connect, or a similar EPM tool, as well as D365 (Microsoft Dynamics 365).
  • Excellent proficiency in PowerPoint, particularly for preparing presentations for senior management and business cases.
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence tools applied to financial analysis and reporting.CPA designation or progress toward a CPA.
