Sanexen is seeking a Director, Risk Assessment for its Brossard offices.

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of the Project Management Office, the incumbent will play a dual strategic and technical role. They will be responsible for leading and developing a multidisciplinary team specializing in environmental risk assessment while serving as a recognized expert in human health and environmental toxicological risk assessment.

This individual will play a key role in the execution of complex projects, ensuring the quality of deliverables, supporting business development initiatives, and promoting Sanexen’s expertise among industrial, governmental, and institutional clients.

  • Leadership and Team Management
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of environmental risk assessment professionals.
  • Plan and allocate projects and resources based on team expertise and business priorities.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Participate in administrative management, workload planning, and various human resources activities.
  • Contribute to the growth and organizational development of the Risk Assessment group.
  • Technical Expertise
  • Conduct and review human health and ecological risk assessments.
  • Apply current regulations, guidelines, and procedures in Québec and Canada related to contaminated site management and environmental emissions.
  • Model contaminant transport and fate and interpret complex environmental datasets.
  • Perform scientific literature reviews and specialized data analyses.
  • Develop technical and strategic recommendations for clients.
  • Ensure the scientific and technical quality of studies, reports, and recommendations.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to industrial and institutional clients.
  • Business Development and Representation
  • Participate in the development of new business opportunities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of service proposals and technical submissions.
  • Represent Sanexen before clients, partners, and government agencies.
  • Serve as an expert witness in litigation, public hearings, or regulatory proceedings when required.
  • Provide expert opinion in support of complex environmental matters.

Sought Profile

  • Graduate degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Toxicology, Environmental Sciences, Hydrogeology, Chemical Engineering, or another discipline relevant to environmental risk assessment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental risk assessment, including team supervision and management responsibilities.
  • Significant experience in toxicological risk assessment within an environmental consulting environment.
  • Expertise in environmental toxicology and ecotoxicology.
  • Expertise in contaminant fate and transport modeling.
  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset and scientific rigor.
  • Effective communication and knowledge transfer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and assume responsibility.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly specialized professional environment.

Assets

  • Experience working with governmental or regulatory agencies.
  • Experience in contaminated site management.
  • Advanced knowledge of environmental regulatory frameworks.
