Sanexen is seeking a Senior Director, Engineering for its Brossard offices.
Job Description
In a context of rapid growth and the realization of complex environmental projects, Sanexen wishes to strengthen its engineering leadership by creating the position of Senior Director, Engineering. Reporting to Senior Management, this strategic role is mandated to evolve, structure, and mobilize the engineering function to effectively support business lines, project teams, and the organization’s sustainable growth ambitions.
This executive-level position is intended for a recognized leader in the field, combining sharp engineering expertise—particularly in site remediation and wastewater treatment—with solid experience in managing technical and multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of operational and commercial challenges and adopts a rigorous approach focused on technical excellence, proactive risk management, deliverable quality, and value creation for clients.
Main responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Define, champion, and deploy the vision, strategy, and governance of engineering across the company, aligned with business, growth, and profitability objectives.
- Governance: Provide structuring leadership to the engineering stream, including the Principal Engineer and Technical Director, and ensure rigorous application of quality processes and standards.
- Technical Authority: Act as a technical and strategic reference for complex engineering projects, notably in water treatment and plant construction.
- Excellence & Execution: Guarantee the excellence of solutions from the opportunity and bidding phases through to execution, commissioning, and operation.
- Innovation: Integrate innovation, technological development, and best practices to keep the organization at the forefront of water, air, and soil treatment solutions.
- Business Support: Support commercial, project, and business development teams with strategic expertise focused on value and client performance.
- Standards & Compliance: Develop and evolve engineering standards, methods, and processes, including risk management, regulatory compliance, safety, and quality.
- Risk Management: Proactively manage technical, contractual, and operational risks from the design phase.
- Talent Development: Develop talent, structure mentoring, and support succession planning to strengthen the skills and performance of engineering teams.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Project, Operations, and Corporate function directors to ensure integrated and high-performance execution.
- Representation: Represent the engineering function to clients, partners, and regulatory authorities, both in Canada and internationally when required.
Qualifications required
Sought Profile
- Over 15 years of relevant engineering experience, including several years in senior management or engineering leadership roles within a company.
- University degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or a related discipline).
- Member or eligible for membership with the Ordre des ingénieurs (OIQ) or equivalent in another province.
- Proven experience in engineering, construction, or environmental organizations generating significant annual revenue.
- Solid understanding of quality engineering service delivery, accounting for commercial, contractual, and financial challenges.
- Recognized ability to innovate, structure differentiated solutions, and transform ideas into concrete value for the company and its clients.
- Mobilizing leadership style and strong professional credibility in engineering.
- Strong orientation toward quality, customer service, proactive risk management, and sustainable performance.
- Excellent command of French and English (oral and written) is required.
- Availability for travel across Canada as required by projects and operations.
Assets
- Master’s degree in Management or technical team leadership.
