QE a con\u00e7u, install\u00e9 et exploit\u00e9 un syst\u00e8me complet de traitement biologique de l&rsquo;eau dans des conditions arctiques difficiles (Iqaluit, Nunavut). Afin de la traiter et la rejeter \u00e0 l\u2019environnement sans incidence toxique pour l\u2019habitat piscicole, QE a con\u00e7u, fourni, install\u00e9 et op\u00e9r\u00e9 un syst\u00e8me de traitement complet incluant des proc\u00e9d\u00e9s biologiques. Un bior\u00e9acteur a\u00e9robie a permis de r\u00e9duire les teneurs de DBO<sup style=\"font-size:10px;\">5<\/sup> alors que l\u2019azote ammoniacal \u00e9tait bio-oxyd\u00e9 par un r\u00e9acteur de nitrification (production de nitrate). Enfin, les mati\u00e8res en suspension ont \u00e9t\u00e9 extraites par filtration (filtres au sable et sacs de filtration) tandis que les contaminants hydrophobes collo\u00efdaux et dissous ont \u00e9t\u00e9 enlev\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019aide de la technologie ULTRASORPTIONMD et par charbon activ\u00e9. <\/p>\n<p>Des analyses chimiques et des essais toxicologiques ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9s sur des \u00e9chantillons d\u2019eau de fa\u00e7on r\u00e9guli\u00e8re afin de suivre l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 du traitement et pour assurer le respect des objectifs de rejet. Les op\u00e9rations de rejet ont \u00e9t\u00e9 supervis\u00e9es et approuv\u00e9es par autorit\u00e9s de la Ville d\u2019Iqaluit, de l\u2019Office des eaux du Nunavut et d\u2019Environnement et Changement climatique Canada. <\/p>\n<p>Plus de 13\u202f000\u202f000 de litres d\u2019eau fortement contamin\u00e9e ont \u00e9t\u00e9 trait\u00e9s avec succ\u00e8s par QE avant d\u2019\u00eatre dirig\u00e9s dans la baie de Frobisher (Koojesse Inlet). <\/p>\n<p>La r\u00e9ussite de ce projet sur l\u2019\u00eele de Baffin a permis \u00e0 QE de contribuer \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9conomie locale en favorisant l\u2019embauche d\u2019entrepreneurs et de travailleurs locaux. La mise en \u0153uvre d\u2019un programme de sant\u00e9 et s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de qualit\u00e9 a \u00e9galement permis de r\u00e9aliser le projet sans incident.
