Sanexen is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for its Brossard offices.
Job Description
As part of our growth across Canada, we are looking to strengthen our engineering department to provide structural technical support to project teams and business lines. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the team.
Main responsibilities
- Technology Selection: Identify and select treatment technologies in collaboration with project teams to meet technical requirements for bids and projects, while considering contractual, commercial, cost, schedule, resource, risk, and quality constraints.
- Mechanical Design: Perform the design and mechanical sizing of systems, equipment, and installations related to environmental and treatment projects (water, soil, and air).
- Detailed Engineering Calculations: Execute mechanical calculations required for detailed engineering, including pressure drops, pump selection, piping, mechanical stress, supports, strength of materials, vibration, and fatigue.
- Documentation & CAD: Participate in the development of mechanical plans, diagrams, piping isometrics, and detailed engineering for “Issued for Construction” (IFC) plans.
- Equipment Specification: Select, specify, and coordinate mechanical equipment (pumps, piping, tanks, dosing systems, rotating equipment, and associated structures) for internal construction or for specialized subcontractors and suppliers.
- Engineering Transfer: Plan, structure, and collaborate on the transfer of engineering data to project and operational teams responsible for construction, mobilization, commissioning, and operation of technologies and assets.
- Technical Support: Participate in mechanical commissioning, technical troubleshooting, and optimization of equipment and systems as required.
- Testing & Analysis: Plan, supervise, and analyze laboratory or pilot-scale tests; perform data analysis to evaluate system or process efficiency and write technical reports.
- Technical Reference: Act as an internal technical reference for mechanical engineering within multidisciplinary teams, ensuring technical quality, consistency of engineering solutions, and the development of internal expertise.
- Expert Collaboration: Serve as a technical expert on specific mandates related to major environmental projects throughout Canada.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in the improvement of engineering methods, procedures, standards, and practices, including change management and risk analysis, with an emphasis on mechanical risks.
- Development: Maintain a high level of competency through continuous training and mentoring while developing distinctive technical expertise.
Qualifications required
Sought Profile
- 4 to 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, equipment design, or industrial facility engineering.
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field.
- Solid mastery of design principles and mechanical engineering applied to complex problem-solving with a practical, solution-oriented approach.
- Member or eligible for membership with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or equivalent in another province.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with mechanical design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
- Excellent command of French (oral and written).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Valid driver’s license.
Assets
- Proficiency in English.
- Possession of the ASP Construction certification (Health and Safety on Construction Sites).
